It's a question on everyone's mind: which highchair should I buy? The IKEA Antilop or the Kmart Prandium? Or maybe the Snacka? Let's compare and decide which one is better:
If you've got a little one who's ready to start trying their first foods, you'll definitely want to invest in a highchair that's safe, practical, and easy to clean.
But with so many options available out there, it can be tough to figure out which one is the best fit for your family. And let's be real, is it really necessary to spend a ton of money on a highchair that's going to be covered in food on the regular?
Well, luckily, the experts at Choice have done the hard work for you, putting over 60 highchairs to the test to find out which ones really are the cream of the crop.
They consider things like safety, ease of use and cleaning (yes, they actually smear them with baby food), stability, and any extra features like adjustability or the ability to convert into a toddler chair down the line.
Choice's testing found that both the Kmart Prandium and Target Snacka highchairs outperformed the Antilop by more than 10 percentage points.
1. The Kmart Prandium
So, what makes these chairs stand out? The Kmart Prandium highchair costs just $29 and passed all of Choice's safety tests with flying colours.
It's also incredibly easy to assemble, clean, and move around thanks to its lightweight design.
Plus, it comes with a five-point harness, which is considered safer than the three-point harness found on the Ikea Antilop. And it can even be converted into a low chair as your little one grows.
2. The IKEA Antilop
As for the Ikea Antilop, it's definitely the cheapest option on the list, with a price tag of just $19.99 without the tray or $24.99 with it included.
It’s loved for its simplicity and the ease of customising it to blend seamlessly into your décor with all the cute accessories like footrests and cushions. However, Choice testers did note that it lost points for safety due to its three-point harness, and the tray can be a pain to remove.
3. The Target Snacka
If you're looking for an alternative to the Kmart Prandium, the Target Snacka highchair is another great option that's nearly identical in design.
However, it did score slightly lower in Choice's testing due to a minor safety issue: the harness isn't permanently attached.
At the end of the day, it's up to you to decide which highchair is the best fit for your family's needs and budget. But with the insights from Choice's testing, you can make an informed decision.
And whichever option you go for, you can always add cute accessories from our placemat, cushion and footrest collections!
